See
memories of our
father
"I was named after
Father Kevin O'Brien, who was my father's friend
growing up in the Bronx.....he was a Jesuit and was
the long-time Treasurer @ Fordham University.
Greg is #2 of 7 in our family. His middlle name is
Arthur after our uncle" Kevin 12/28/2009
"Your father was 7
yrs old when Daniel enlisted in WWI. Daniel fought
in Ypres, Flanders. There is a documentary that may
interest you called "Digging up the Trenches" which
documents the time Daniel fought there;

"Note the names of 3
boys: Edmund Burke (an Irishman who was one of the
foremost political thinkers of 18th
century)…Theodore Roosevelt…Paul Revere) This shows
that grandpa loved fighters against injustice."

"I didn't know about Edmund
Burke. He was one of my favorites.
And there was Martha
Washington... it's regarding the daughters
but I don't have the details.
Daniel was extraordinary for
his time being so well read and educated.
Florence died in 1884. I have the probate
papers but don't know what the value of the
money was. The family moved to Amsterdam, a
thriving city on the Eric Canal.
They rented rooms in a home that was huge
and had numerous rooms to rent. It was
across the street from a graveyard with a
large manufacturing building close by (don't
know when it was built). Daniel went to law
school in Albany while clerking in
Amsterdam, as well as being a notary. One
of the buildings he worked in still stands.
Then he went to Fordham and NY Law School.
He must have been brilliant to do this at
this time in history, let alone any time in
history. How did they afford it? Florence
and Daniel went to law school." Kathleen

"Thanks...I
just got off the phone with Connie who said
"he was a great scholar…fluent in Greek…and
amazingly, she never met him as he was in
the Veteran's Hospital"
