"Also there is a new book out on Ed Sullivan by Gerald Nachman - "Right Here on our Stage Tonight"  Pretty good - plus our cousin Meagen is quoted in it!  Book makes him more human - and gives an insight into the Sullivan temperament" Regina Ryan 12/15/2009

"There is an interesting book written by Tom Hayden - "Irish on the Inside" which I found to be incredibly helpful in understanding this Irish piece.  We were never brought up to view ourselves ad Irish (which Hayden says was commonplace) Actually it wasn't until I came to Boston that I ever even thought of myself as Irish - always thought of myself as a New Yorker!! I particularly resonated with the part about how he grew up in an Irish-Catholic family which could have come out of a Eugene O'Neill drama!  They must have been Sullivans :-).  Here's the review from Publisher's Weekly" Regina Ryan 1/4/2010

"In the book "Impresario" about Ed Sullivan by James Maguire page 11 it says "stopping in london on their way to the new world, the O Sullivan brothers decided to Americanize their surname they would now sign their name as Sullivan.

This ties with the legend about "throwing the "O" overboard when they got to London however the passenger lists on your website are all docking at Liverpool before NY? regards"  Lesley Kiddell-Spencer 1/8/2010
