NEW RESEARCH INDICATES OUR FAMILY LIVED IN CAPPANAPARKI WHEN YOUNGEST SON MICHAEL BORN

(BIRTH OF MICHAEL 1842)

See enlarged version below

Please read below.  The proof of the research below hinges on the death certificates of Johanna and John in Saratoga Springs, NY, which are being requested.  Delay of weeks to months to receive.  The exact proof is that the eldest daughter, Johanna born 1820, is the daughter of Anna James and that John, born 1828, is the son of Julia. -

Response 2/2/2010 - Johanna Sullivan Harrington's, the eldest, mother was Julia so Michael had only one wife.  The only inconsistency with this is Florence's, second oldest, death certificate which stated his mother was Anna James.  Since Probate papers and the city directory corroborate Florence's death, the statement that Anna James was his mother is most likely an error.  This also means Michael and Julia were married before 1820.

Through the baptism of Michael, 1842, and the information I had previous saved, I may have found the Griffiths Record for Florence that I located when in Ireland at the National Archives:

son Sullivan, Florence - Adrigole R.C., Kilcaskan Civil Parish, Cork.  See 34 entries in the Griffiths Valuation records.

father Sullivan, Michael - Adrigole R.C., Kilcaskan Civil Parish, Cork. See 20 entries in the Griffiths Valuation records.

  • see land for Michael and Julia, forth entry for Kilcaskan on online page 161.  Other Sullivans mentioned on this land are John Sullivan and Patrick Sullivan

Adrigole, (Irish: Eádargoil, meaning "between two inlets") is a village situated on the Beara Peninsula in County Cork, in Ireland. It is centred around the junction of the R572 and R574 regional roads. It has a sparsely distributed population of about 450 people.

Research:

I may have just located our family in Ireland; see below.  It's from the free database.

The birth of their youngest son Michael in 1842.

If all goes well, we are from:

Baptism of MICHAEL SULLIVAN of CAPPANAPARKI on 20 July 1842 - Diocese of KERRY , Parish of ADRIGOLE R.C.

I found a possible match Bob's ggf.  Adrigole is in Cork (http://www.irishgenealogical.org/irish_genealogical_hc_Cork.asp) and research source is Riobard, although he has retired.

Note Kilcaskan is in Glanarought - Lansdown Estate: population changes
Year 1841 1851 1861 1871
Population 1379 1101 = 79% 911  = 66% 905  = 66%
